We've come a long way baby!!!

WOW!!!  Things sure do look different huh?  So, once the plumbing and electrical were done Cory and Nick went through the whole house and wired it for phone, cable, internet and stereo system.  Let me tell you (as you can see from our pics), THAT WAS ALOT OF WIRE!!!  That took them a solid weekend and they were completely pooped by the time they were done.

Then the drywallers came in and laid all the sheetrock and did the mud, tape and texturing............and drywall is DONE, finally.  Five to nine days turned into fourteen and we had some issues with them but all we can really say is at least they're finished and we can move forward.  On to PAINT!! :o)

We've also finally got a back door.  They got it all fixed up and installed week before last and simultaneously Cory and Nick got the soffet laid out for the front porch and the handle and deadbolt installed on the back door.  It all looks beautiful.

Then another road block!!  Why would it not have been pointed out to us in the framing stage that if we want a roll in shower for Kaylee we should have the floor dropped in there so that after tile and underlayment and such it's all the same height????  SOOOOOO, Cory and Tim had to cut out and drop the floor in there this week so the tile was ready to be laid.  Ahhh, the trials of construction.

Last but not least some good news...........I got a call yesterday that our cabinets are coming on time and we should see them by the end of next week hopefully.  Then the lady called today to tell me the front door came in and is ready to be picked up!  Good things......very good things! :o)

Plumbing, Electricity and Siding, oh my!!

Sooooooo......plumbing is 98% done (the rest like dishwasher, disposal and water heater get plumbed in a few weeks), electrical is 80% finished and should be done and ready for inspection hopefully tomorrow and the siding is done on 3 sides and half on the fourth side.  Next week the insulation should be a least started then we can move onto drywall.  Inside the house we're really seeing alot of change but unfortunately on the outside, other than Cory putting up the siding, hasn't really changed much in a few weeks.  There's actually not much room for change really other than paint and landscaping.  Hopefully we'll be able to recover a decent looking yard after we're finished!!  As always don't forget to check out our new pictures. :o)

Well, well, well.....

No break yet! Cory's still working his butt off......EVERYDAY! We had a mini break by getting away with the kids for Father’s Day at the coast but as soon as we were back it was back to the same old thing. Ahhhh, will we ever finish?? Most of the rough plumbing is in now and there are only a couple of walls left to be framed to the vault. The windows went in Monday (thanks to Chance and his crew) and gutters were up on Thursday, so I think we're due for an inspection soon...........keep your fingers crossed that we pass! :o) J/K

We'll see HVAC starting in the next week or two so; things are really starting to come together.

Don't forget to check out the pictures! :o)

New layout...........

Take the poll on the right if you can.  I was hoping the new layout might bring us some weather luck.......think good thoughts kinda thing ya know!?  We'll see if it works out in our favor or not! :o)

Check it out!!

So, this is the most recent picture of the house! It looks so much different than it did just a few weeks ago...........actually 9 weeks ago this Monday. We're still quite a bit away from being done, but progress is nice to see.

Cory keeps working away everyday on the house with as many people as he can round up. Next week plumbing will be going in and then he'll have a little break hopefully.

Rain, rain go away!!!

Well, Cory and the "crew" have continued to move ahead............the weather has not stopped them for more than an hour here and there.  It's been awhile since I've posted but the changes are evident from all the new pictures, it doesn't even seem like the same house anymore.  It's not I suppose, it's just a shell of it's former self! :o)
Hopefully my link works (clicking the picture is a link :o)) but if not click through to our pictures using the old link below. Next week will be full of work for several different crews; framing, trusses and roofing....oh, my!! :o)

Now Cory and I just have to find time to be able to go and pick out what kind and color shingles we want!!

Noticable changes

I mean to get on here and post new updates at the very least weekly but so far it hasn't been happening!!

The house is FINALLY empty...........with the much needed help of our great family, it is done!!  One wouldn't really think that in just a short five year time period there could possibly be so much c-r-a-p crammed into a little tiny shoebox of a house but we're proof that it can be done.  So now with the house empty we move onto bigger and better things, literally!  :o)

As you can see from the new pictures posted (hopefully), Cory has been working hard.  We saw some of the walls go up for the master bath this week; that was nice because we're able to get a better feel for how things will ultimately be laid out.  Dump box to be delivered Friday for the fun part to start........DEMO!!!!  Wish us luck and keep your prayers with us that no one gets hurt! :o)

Hopefully my pictures will open for everyone this time!!

STRESSED OUT

Okay, seriously, it's only been two weeks now that we've been working BUT, I think I drastically under estimated the amount of stress involved in remodeling and moving.  Particularly remodeling while still living on the premises!  I'm ready to be packed and moved out but it's hard to think of what you don't care if you see for several months and what you're going to need frequently.......AND getting the motivation to clear out and pack up cupboards, closets and rooms that are stuffed to the gills!!  It's a very daunting task.  I know Cory is feeling it too; he's been working his normal shift at work (10 hrs/5days) then coming home only to KEEP working for several more hours (usually about 7 MORE hours).  He's exhausted. I'll keep posting links to the picture album I started on Picasa and announce when I add them (click the picture and it'll take you there).  Happy remodeling! :o)

So work officially started April 12, 2010. And, within a week of starting we've been able to have the porch demoed, ground cleared and excavated, forms set, foundation poured and now all the dirt has been backfilled (for the bump out’s in front). I’ll post some pictures of all the work that’s been done so far as soon as I can. It looks so different already!!

Waiting, waiting and more what? WAITING!!!

It seemed like it took forever for our permit to be approved and finalized!! In actuality it was approved and ready for pickup three or four days before our four week deadline they had originally gave us. So with permit in hand we were able to "break ground"......yeah!!!!!
